In today’s digital world, online learning spaces have become a wonderfully accessible way for folks to increase skills, build resiliency, and work towards personal and professional goals.  Our professional development offerings are designed for health and wellness professionals. They are also suitable for those who take on a compassionate, caregiving, or helping role. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge and equip you with tools to work with the complexities of life.

Wellness practices work at maintenance and expansion, rather than addressing a need for urgent mental health support. These groups and services are for the everyday person who is looking to strengthen their resileincy. They are about sustaining well-being, improving skills, and building good mental health habits. This includes finding moments of peace, fostering connections, sharing stories, practicing mindfulness, and reflecting on challenging experiences.

Often throughout our professional lives, we will need fresh perspective and guidance when we spin our wheels or run up against a barrier. Consultation and debriefing topics that frequently arise relate to critical incident debriefing, conflict management and mediation, case conceptualization, clinical supervision, and ethical decision making. These services can be delivered individually or facilitated with groups.

Professional Development

Learning and practicing are part of the process of building mastery. There is an interface between building competencies, and then in turn, the confidence to keep learning and growing from that foundational knowledge.

The following professional development activities are aimed at equipping participants with the building blocks for safe, ethical, and ultimately, a fulfilling professional experience in a wide variety of sectors and industries.

Mindfulness Workshops

Themes that are explored in these workshops include learning about mindfulness and basic practices, as well as deepening knowledge and skills with specific applications of mindfulness-based strategies. These workshops are typically between 1 and 3 hours. They can also be built into in a series that expands on previous learnings and deepens the integration of knowledge into practice.

Trauma Informed Practice

This program helps participants understand the neurological underpinnings of trauma, examine what it means to be trauma informed, and build confidence in fostering post-traumatic growth. The course teaches the principles of trauma informed care / practice and demystifies a lot of fears and misconceptions around working with trauma. It can be delivered in as little as 4 hours and be expanded to a 2-day program with more in-depth modules and discussion.

Ethics of Self Care for Health Professionals

Helping professionals are exposed to a variety of occupational hazards and can struggle with staying engaged at work. This 3-hour workshop highlights the ethical imperative of taking care of ourselves. It offers practical tools for enhancing job satisfaction and a healthy work/life balance. This workshop can also be offered in tandem with group consultation around critical incident debriefing and employee wellness.

Self-Paced Online Learning

We are in the process of developing online learning modules on a variety of mental health themes. These self-paced workshops will cover a variety of mental health related topics and provide useful practice strategies for individuals in their personal and professional lives. Wellness Workshops and Groups

It has been said that we heal in relationship - with the self but also with others. Group-based processes are a wonderful way to learn from the experiences of others and share our stories. The comfort and convenience of joining from your own space often helps folks settle in and open up a bit easier.

 

Our workshops and process groups are built around healthy wellness practices, accountability strategies, skill development, and moving through challenging situations.

Communication Skills

This session is specifically developed provide participants with communication and self-regulation skills. By doing the work of learning how to have tough conversations, participants will learn how to build meaningful, trusting, and respectful relationships.

Mindfulness

What does it mean to be mindful and how is it different than meditation? Sessions can involve learning principles of mindfulness, practicing mindfulness-based skills and strategies, and/or integrating mindfulness into our everyday lives. 

Embodiment

Learn intentional movement techniques and develop skills to navigate stressful situations. The connection between the brain and body is fundamental; the more we focus on listening to ourselves, the better we can live the wonderful lives in front of us.

Anxiety and Depression

Understanding the neurological roots of anxiety and depression can give us pathways through these natural states. Once we know more, we can do more. With this understanding, we can better help ourselves and possibly even help others along the way.

Self Care and Stress Management

This session brings in variety of strategies to manage stress and release the pressures that come along with everyday life. Each person's self-care plan will include cognitive, behavioural, emotion-focused, mindfulness-based, body-oriented, philosophical, and/or spiritual approaches.

Workshops and groups can be structured as follows:

1 Hour 

This is a short and succinct group meeting, where a topic is reviewed and discussion flows from questions and reflections.

3 Hours

This half-day structure allows for more comprehensive learning; involving personalized engagement, working with barriers, and applying some of the skill to support integration.

6 Hours

This full day workshop allows for a deepening of the work. We can stay with things a bit longer and process more material along the way.  There is more time to ask  questions, practice strategies, share perspectives, and engage in reflexive discussion. 

Consultation and Debriefing

​Individuals and organizations in a variety of sectors will, at some point, find themselves in complex situations. Often, there is value in gaining an outside perspective and engaging in a process of working through the mess.

We offer a range of services geared towards organizational and professional health. These services are designed to meet the unique needs of the individual, business, non-profit, or government agency.

Debriefing

It happens; people get exposed to distressing and sometimes traumatic situations. Without taking time to debrief, the effects of burnout can emerge. Debriefing services support agencies and individuals who have experienced or witnessed critical incidents. We take time to process what happened and build skills to move through it with resiliency and growth.​​

Case Consultation

Clinical and non-clinical consultation for health professionals is aimed at unpacking challenging client situations, exploring possible avenues for meaningful intervention, and supporting practitioners on their journey of self-care and professional development. These services can be facilitated individually or in a group setting.

Mediation and Conflict Management

Conflict and unresolved issues can lead to toxic stress and chronic resentment. Mediation and conflict management services are offered to individuals and organizations that are looking to actively work through challenging interpersonal situations. These could include but are not limited to: family conflict, employee or employer misconduct, harassment and discrimination issues, or organizational restructuring.​​

Ethics

Ethical dilemmas present themselves in many different ways and it can be challenging to address them, given the multitude of considerations that need to be taken into account. Ethical decision making  sessions help with gaining perspective, weighing options, considering outcomes, planning implementation, and mitigating risk.

Supervision and Private Practice

There are a multitude of considerations that need to be taken into account when operating a private clinical practice. These services are aimed at supporting health professionals with clinical supervision, regulatory compliance, and setting up a rewarding and sustainable career as an entrepreneurial health practitioner.
